A Tropic Marin Tank (20): Coral feeding with Phos-Feed

Hans-Werner Balling really outdid himself with this new product used for coral feeding. Tropic Marin Phos-Feed is a multipurpose phosphate particulate supplement.

It mimics the way corals receive their phosphate in the wild, where the dissolved PO4 in the water is very low, but constant. This is difficult to achieve in aquaria, where some fluctuations will occur, and especially the fluctuations to undetectable levels can be fatal for the corals.

Tropic Marin Phos-Feed can help add the PO4 directly to the corals and at the same time keep a detectable and measurable PO4 level in the water.

In the Tropic Marin tank, I use it whenever the PO4 drops below 0.1 ppm, to help elevate it back up again. I could add more food, but I don't want to increase the NO3 which has to stay low. Tropic Marin Phos-Feed is great for this.

Just dissolve some in a bit of water andd dose it to the tank. Super easy. I make a solution with 50 grams in 1 liter RO/DI water and dose from this. Remember to shake it first. Happy reefing! -Samuel Christensen
